Warning: products may contain one or more chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer or other reproductive harm.
California law requires businesses to provide a clear and reasonable warning to customers before knowingly or intentionally exposing a person to a listed chemical before purchasing products in the state of California and to customers having products shipped to California.
Proposition 65, the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, was passed into law in 1986 by the state of California with the original intent of protecting drinking water sources from chemical contamination. Since 1986, the scope of the law has grown to include such common substances as wood dust, nickel and brass. There are officially more than 800 substances on the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) list of carcinogens or reproductive toxicants. Many of these substances are common ingredients in a variety of household items, such as lotions, jewelry, lamps, automobiles and furniture.
One of the substances found on the Proposition 65 list of potentially harmful materials is wood dust. Therefore, as there is always a chance of wood dust or one of the other substances listed on the Proposition 65 list being present in our furniture, we are obliged to include a Proposition 65 warning on all our products.
